About The Course
Is your child ready to embark on a journey toward success in the music industry? The Indian Classical Method: Book 1 is the perfect starting point! This beginner-level course introduces students to the fundamentals of classical singing, blending practical and theoretical aspects of Indian classical music. Throughout the program, students will gain a strong foundation in essential concepts like swar (notes), taal (rhythm), and ragas (melodic frameworks).

- Music, Notes(swar) - Shuddha Swar And Vikrit Swar (Komal And Teevra Swar), Shruti, Naad, Aaroh-avroh, Alankar, Saptak (octave) And Its types
- Posture and fingers
- Practice Of Shadaj and Seven Notes.
- Alankars Of Shuddha Swaras, Skip Note Alankars, Alankars which cover all 3 Octaves (alankars Of Shuddha Swar), use of all Notes of a Saptak in a different way, breathing exercises, Alankars of Vikrit Swaras.
- Taal, Matra, Laya, Vibhag, Sum, Taali, Khaali / Kaal, Avartan
- Dadra Taal (Thaah Laya), Alankars in Taal Dadra, Sargam Geet in Taal Dadra (with only Shuddha Swar), Keherwa Taal (Thaah Laya), Alankars in Taal Keherwa, Teentaal / Tritaal (Thaah Laya), Alankars in Teentaal, national anthem (based on Raag Bilawal)
- Thaat and its notes, Raag and its characteristics
- Vaadi and Samvadi Swar, Anuvadi and Vivadi Swar, Varjit and Nyas Swar, Raag Jaati, Lakshan Geet, Khayal, Taan and Alaap.
- Chhota Khayal in Raag Bilawal (Madhyalay Tritaal), prayer based on Raag Alhaiya Bilawal.
- Sargam Geet, Lakshan Geet, Chhota Khayal, Shlok based on Raag Bhoop, Song (geet) based on Raag Bhoop.

Do you provide any study material with the course?
Yes! Once you become a Gandharva student, you will have access to all the resources you need from reading material to practice videos, and even tools like metronome, music sheets, backing track and more. You will find all the resources on your student dashboard.
Do you teach adults?
Yes. At Gandharva School of Music, there is no age barrier to start learning something new. There is no better proof of it than our cohort. Our youngest student is 6 years old and our oldest student is 53 years old.
Which instrument model should I purchase?
Once you enroll with us, our counsellor will guide you through the process of choosing the right model based on your budget and preferences.
Do you teach Grade Exams and provide certifications?
Yes, we prepare you for RSL, Trinity, and ABRSM exam. You can discuss with your counsellor and pursue any of these certifications.
Will there be a Theory or Practical Exam at the end of the course?
Our primary aim is to offer holistic music education. This is why, for the final assessment, we ask you to submit a video answering some theory questions and a performance piece.
