ISTD Grade 4
About The Course
This course is the next step after completing Method Book 4 and passing the ISTD Grade 3 exam. Students are trained to sing, recite, and perform the Jathiswaram and Shabdam with precision.
Guided by certified professional instructors, students delve deeper into Viniyoga Hasta theory and incorporate additional yoga practices into their training. The curriculum also includes advanced theoretical concepts from the Abhinaya Darpana, such as Dashavatara Hastas and the definitions of Vakyartha, Padartha, and Sancharis, equipping students to perform confidently for the ISTD Grade 4 exam.
Prerequisites
- 4+ year of dancing experience
- Ability to sing the items learnt in class
Topics Covered
- Rhythm And Tāla - Trikala adavu solkattu recitation, Technical Pieces Like the Jathiswaram korvais are also tested
- Music - Ability To Sing the items danced
- Aḍavus - Advanced adavus, candidates will be judge on variety and clarity of movements in different speeds
- Nritta /Abhinaya / Nritya - Advanced Adavus, Technical Pieces Like the Tisra Allarippu, Jathiswaram and Shabdam are tested
- Creative Exercise - Sancharis in the Sbhadam
- Safe Dance Practice - Yoga as prescribed for the grade by ISTD
- Theory - Theory From Abhinaya Darpana including viniyoga hastas, Dashavatara shloka, Understanding of Padartha, Vakyartha abhinaya, Sancharis
- File - Essays On Abhinaya Darpanam vs. Natyashastra, stories from the Shabdam
