ISTD Grade 5
About The Course
Designed for students who have completed ISTD Grade 4, this course prepares them for the ISTD Grade 5 certification. The primary focus is on Abhinaya training, where students learn to express emotions through Padam and Keerthanam, as well as interpret repeated lines with evocative Sanchari.
Under the guidance of certified professionals, students are trained in technical pieces, Bhava and Rasa theory, and yoga practices aligned with ISTD guidelines, ensuring comprehensive preparation for the Grade 5 exam.
Prerequisites
- 12 years of age or older
- 5+ year of dancing experience
- Ability to sing the items learnt in class

- Rhythm And Tāla - The Dancers Are Expected To Know The Rhythm Pattern, Meaning, Sing And Dance The Technical Items Such As Padam, Keerthanam And Thillana
- Music - Ability To Sing the items danced
- Nritta /Abhinaya / Nritya - The Dancers Are Expected To Know The Rhythm Pattern, Meaning, Sing And Dance The Technical Items Such As Padam, Keerthanam And Thillana
- Creative Exercise - The candidate is expected to set adavus to a two avarthana solkattu sequence challenge presented by examiner
- Safe Dance Practice - Yoga as prescribed for the grade by ISTD
- Theory - The candidates are expected to know the theory appropriate for this level including Ashtanayikas and Bhava and Rasa theory
- File - Essays On the characters represented in the Keerthanam or Padam, essays on safety in dance, pioneering dancers and artistes, evidence of attending a large number of shows
